Marvel kicked off the year with a surprise for the fans of its comicverse after releasing the first still shot and full synopsis of the upcoming space action-adventure flick “Guardians of the Galaxy.”
The Viral Reveal
News about the movie adaptation of GOG had spread since last year, though it was only a few months later that Marvel confirmed the production. Since then, avid fans uploaded low-resolution pictures of the movie and summaries drawn from the comics’ plot lines meshed together.
The first day of 2014, however, saw a big reveal from the comic book giant with the photo of the movie’s main characters Peter Quill, Drax, Gamora, Groot, and Rocket Raccoon.
Guardians’ first still photo made the rounds online, sparking online discussions and earning thousands of likes, comments, and shares from netizens across different social networking sites.
Along with the viral photo came the first full synopsis of the film. In full, it read:
“From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team–the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits–Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand – with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.”
The Guardians flick will hit the big screen on August 1.
